The Problem with the Chirping Cricut®

A1-29-0300-CricutExpression1

I want a personal cutting machine, but there’s a problem.  I don’t want dies, and I want creative freedom to print or cut what I create.  Not so hard, right?  Wrong.  The creative silence is deafening.  All I can hear are the Cricuts chirping.

I know the hype with die-cutting or cartridge machines.  But it doesn’t make any sense to me.  Tie my creativity down to what’s on a cartridge, die, or handheld device?  What if I want to freehand draw something, scan it, and cut it?  I can do it with my printer and my graphic software – why not with a cutter?

This will work!  I just need to buy a Silhouette.  Why haven’t I heard of this before? Forget the cute little green cricket.  I want TOTAL control.

All you QuicKutz people out there: I’ll be your tester!  Send me a machine and let me craft up a storm and blog it for you!  Heck, I’d buy it!

Uh, and where is this available again?

Or maybe I’ll just go buy a Craft ROBO or ROBO Pro.  Also awesome creative control, about the same price as the Cricut.  Available…  um… we’ll get back to you on that one.

These things are hard to find.  Somebody wanna help an artist out?
