Chocolate Gingerbread Cookie Recipe Download

gingerbread chocolate cookie

Today I am giving you a recipe download for Chocolate Gingerbread Cookies: sophisticated enough for you, simple enough for the kids.  Not your average chewy, chocolate cookie, this recipe gets a kick from fresh ginger  -  kind of a punk modern version of the best traditional gingerbread you’ve ever eaten.

Honestly.  Take out the chocolate and use this recipe for your Christmas gingerbread.  Cook it a little longer and you can make gingerbread house cookies.  (In fact, I think I’ll post templates and a recipe in December along those lines.  No cheesy Wal*Mart kit needed!)

Doesn’t that melted chocolate just make your mouth water?  These cookies are made for a tall glass of cold milk.

(For those of you who HATE to chill dough, you really need to do it with this dough or it will fall apart.  You could add more flour, but it would ruin the taste.  My advice is to make the dough the night before, put it in the fridge, and cook it in the morning. )

  • This looks so tasty! Could you make a more printable format for downloading? I love the picture, but I don’t want to use up my ink printing it.

  • Mmmm… that is SUCH a good idea! I get carried away with graphic design and forget to think of practical issues - like… how is someone going to print this monster? I’ll go ahead and add optional recipe cards this week that use just a small picture and text. Thanks for the awesome suggestion!
